SKARDU Three centers have been set up for the COVID19 vaccine in Baltistan. Regional Headquarters Hospital (RHQ) Skardu, Benazir Shaheed Hospital Gamba Skardu and Civil Hospital Thowar Rondu have been declared as COVID-19 Vaccine Centers. A meeting of the District Vaccine Administration and Coordination Committee was held in which all the members of the committee participated. The meeting was headed by Deputy Commissioner Skardu Hafiz Karim Dad Chagatai. Workers will be given the corona vaccine at an early stage.
In this regard, Regional Headquarters Hospital Skardu, Benazir Shaheed Hospital Gamba Skardu and Civil Hospital Thuwar Rondo have been made Corona Vaccine Centers. Deputy Commissioner Skardu said that all arrangements would be made to ensure corona vaccine including security under SOPs issued by NCOC so that this contagious disease could be eradicated through corona vaccine.
Pakistan received half a million Sinopharm vaccine from China on Monday. The first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine will be given to frontier healthcare workers in Punjab and Gilgit Baltistan. In the second phase, the vaccine will be given to persons over the age of 65 who are at high risk of the COVID-19 virus. According to the foreign minister, more than 1.1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be shipped from China by the end of February.
Sinopharm is a Chinese state-owned company that has developed and distributed the vaccine globally. Furthermore, phase three trials for another Chinese COVID-19 vaccine namely the CanSino vaccine are undergoing in Pakistan, which granted emergency use authorization for the AstraZeneca, Sinopharm, and Sputnik V vaccines in January. According to the company, it is one of the top 10 vaccines listed by WHO in the final stages of the trial.
Moreover, Pakistan will receive 6.8 million dozes of Oxford.-AstraZeneca vaccine developed by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Gavi vaccine alliance, and Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
