PIA announces to start flights from Lahore to Skardu The first introductory flight will be added to the PIA’s system tomorrow.
As per the details, the flight will depart from Lahore and will land in Skardu in one hour and thirty minutes. Fares for the flight will be Rs 7,500. Last month the Government had announced to start international flights at Skardu Airport. The PTI-led government aims to promote tourism in Pakistan. For this purpose different initiatives are being taken. Connectivity is very important in developing tourism in Gilgit Baltistan.
If international flight is started from Skardu airport then Skardu will become a tourism hub in the region. It will boost tourism in Gilgit Baltistan. Also it will provide a safe alternative to travel GB.
On Thursday PIA resumed flight operation for Saidu Sharif Airport after seventeen years. The Saidu Sharif airport was closed 17 years ago due to terrorism in Swat valley. Pakistan International Airlines is playing a vital role in promoting tourism in Gilgit Baltistan. However, private airlines must also start flights to Skardu.
