Pakistan Army Helicopter airlifted unwell Polish climber from K2

Pakistan Army helicopter airlifted an unwell Polish climber from K2 base camp to Skardu city. Polish climber Waldemar Kowalewski’s decided to leave K2 winter expedition due to a hernia. He was part of the biggest international SST K2 winter expedition.

This was his second attempt to climb K2 in winter. In 2018 he was injured when a chunk of ice hit him, and this year he got hernia problem. Other members of the SST K2 expedition team have started their ascent to camp 2. While John Snorri arrived at camp 2 on K2.

K2 is the only eight thousander mountain that has never climbed in winter. This year more than 50 climbers are trying their best to scale the savage mountain in winter.
